Wear it Wednesday - Cream colored skirt

A sweet friend of mine gave me the most adorable cream-colored twirly skirt. (Similar to this) I have been searching Pinterest for different ways to wear it. Here are some of my favorites.

1. I love everything about this combo. I would never have thought about pairing it with a light denim or chambray but it absolutely works.

2. A dressier option - almost monochrome with a few pops of color. Red isn't a color I would have immediately paired with it but I like it.

3. I love the contrast between the cream and the black. Just a classic look.

Friday Finds

I'm looking forward to a long weekend of nothing after traveling out of town the last few weekends. My big plan is a movie marathon, some pool time, and maybe some creating/DIY time since I have found several new projects I love recently. Honestly, I doubt I will ever get to the DIY time! But here are a couple of my ideas anyway.

This project is so simple! You just wrap a coffee can (or any container) with rope. This is perfect for my bathroom since it has a beachy feel. But really it would work anywhere depending on what you wrapped it with. I have a lot of "stuff" but I hate clutter. This would definitely help with that.

I have two wooden barstools that my sister and I have traded back and forth since we lived together in college. They currently have the Seminole head FSU symbol on them and don't match my house at all. Until I saw this, it had never occurred to me to paint them to match my decor. Now I'm dying to give it a try!

I have a canvas painting hanging by my front door that I've had forever. I would love to do something colorful and cheery like this to it to brighten up my entryway.

I don't have the the materials to make this yet but I really like this idea. I was thinking instead of a full monogram, just finding a medium-sized vinyl sticker that says Believe or Hope and placing it along the top or bottom of the mirror. That way the majority of the mirror is still open.

If I can find it in myself to get off of the couch and be productive I will show you the results of one of these projects next week. If not, there is always the next weekend!

Wear it Wednesday - Casual Styles

I have the hardest time figuring out what to wear when I can go casual. I have to dress up for work so I'm comfortable with picking out business style outfits. But when the weekend gets here I'm at a loss. I think part of it is my body shape. I'm not huge, but I'm not thin either. I don't like shorts on me or anything clingy, but something flowy can make you look even bigger. I end up with a pile of discarded clothes on my bed, I'm grumpy, and frustrated.

I have been window shopping on Pinterest for some ideas. I love everything about this first outfit. It's easy and comfy looking. AND I love her hair. Wish I could figure out how to curl mine like that.

I have a thing for jeans and a white button-up shirt. This next outfit is a version I could do since the shirt isn't tucked in. It would work with both heels or flats.

Wear It Wednesday

I've been perusing Pinterest a lot lately, drooling and dreaming over the gorgeous clothes people are pinning.
(Side note: Did you know perusing actually means studying in great detail, not just skimming over? I did not until a friend pointed it out.)
I find myself looking at the different outfits and imaging the story behind where it would be worn. A trip to the beach, a night out in Paris... It's my version of daydreaming I guess. Here are some of my favorites from this week.

Crazy Life? Here are some handy tips to help.

Work is so busy right now. I feel like all I do is go work, come home, go to bed, and do it again. I know I'm not the only one with a crazy life so I thought I would share some of the handy tips I have been finding on Pinterest.

1. I love this tip because I am always putting on a sweater only to find I have two points sticking up from my shoulders. Problem solved:

Just fold the sweater and hang it over the hanger as shown above. Ingenious!

2. I have a dog who loves to press his sweet, wet nose against the window as he watches the neighborhood happenings. Have you ever tried cleaning doggy-nose prints off of glass? Almost impossible until I stumbled across this tip:

These babies are miracle workers! Use a Magic Eraser to clean the nose prints off your windows and then wipe it down with glass cleaner after.

3. Who doesn't have a jumbled mess under their bathroom or kitchen sink? OK, maybe there are people out there who can keep it organized and neat but I'm not one of them. This is a trick my sister tried under my nieces' bathroom sink and it worked great:

Hang a shoe organizer on the inside of the cabinet to store bottles, accessories, toiletries, etc.

4. Ever try to hang a picture or a shelf on the wall and end up with 97 holes, none of which are straight or right? Here is your solution:

Put a dot of toothpaste where the hangers or holes are and press against the wall. Voila! You know exactly where the nail or screw should go. (Just make sure to clean the toothpaste off when you're done!)

Spring is finally here!!

Spring is here! If you live in the South like me, then you are starting to see the signs of new life all around you. I love the freshness in the air, seeing the beautiful trees and flowers begin to bud out, and just the general "green-ness" of everything.


Once Spring gets here I am ready to change things up a bit. I get the urge to redecorate, craft,  and organize. In other words, Pinterest becomes my best friend! Take a look at some these lovelies:
